This Shouldn't
Have Happened
Though the night air dulled the late summer heat, Whitney felt the warmth of the asphalt in every step. Walking up and down the aisles, she prayed that none of the people making small talk near their cars would notice she had already passed by going the other direction.
Amidst the cars, Whitney saw a figure making his way towards her. In his suit and lanyard, she was sure he was a principal or dean or something like that. Maybe he would understand that she was looking for her own car? She worried he probably wouldn’t.
Whitney was close enough to the entrance of the game she thought she could probably beat him there as long as no one did anything crazy.
Should Whitney:
