Whitney grabbed the phone tighter and roared, “I want to know Dillon’s new address. I need to go get my truck before work tomorrow.”
Almost instantaneously, as if rehearsed, Ashley responded, “I mean you kicked Dillon out on the street and now you want their new address?”
“I didn’t kick Dillon out.”
“Is that why you stayed on my couch for two weeks?”
“I told them they could stay until the end of the lease.”
“Oh, how saintly of you!”
“You know Dillon cheated on me!”
“And that’s against the law now, is it?”
With that, Ashley caught Whitney truly off-guard. Before Whitney could find an appropriate response, Ashley said, “Have a good night” and hung up the phone.
Clearly, Dillon’s friends weren’t going to help her out.
